Swedish Relaxation Massage Program
Licensed under Private Vocational
Schools Act of Alberta
Operated Under Calgary College of Holistic Health &
Clinics Inc.
The safest massage
technique, it was developed by Dr. Ling of Sweden
Definition: Scientific and systematic manipulation
of the soft tissues of the body
"One of
the greatest contributions of the Swedes and Norwegians
this side of their beautiful fjords is body massage,
a delightful luxury everyone should enjoy. For utter
release from worry and tension, for that easy moving
muscle and for the refreshed, relaxed feeling that can
add joy to living, I heartily recommend a body massage
now and then by a trained masseur or masseuse."
"The value of body massage:
- Its great for relaxation and body well being
- It can improve your circulation and take a load
off your heart
- It reduces body fluid collecting in the legs and
dependant portions of the body – especially good for
the heart patient and the person standing for prolonged
periods
- Arthritis patients benefit from the renewed circulation
that massage can bring to painful and creaking, aging
or diseased joints. Full range of motion is also valuable
to keep them moving smoothly
- Athletes benefit by having waste products rubbed
away from vigorously exercised muscles, preventing
much of the after aching and soreness"
J. Dewitt Fox, M.D., F.A.C.
"The judicious
use of massage is, for both physical and psychological
reasons, helpful and efficacious."
American Handbook of Psychiatry
"Massage
and manipulation of the muscles in the face, head, neck
and shoulders as practiced by masseurs can ease or even
eliminate headaches and produce a psychologically calming
effect."
Joseph Tollison, M.D.
Headache: A Multi Modal Program for Relief
"I recommend
massage to athletes of any level of ability… it not
only improves your performance, it will speed your recovery
time and cut down on the number of injuries."
